L.A Girl Matte Flat Finish Pigment Gloss Swatches & Review

Look what landed in NZ, yay! The NEW L.A Girl "Matte" Liquid Lipsticks. I got the Full Collection (16 Shades) just so I could swatch them for use. There's a couple colours I probably would never wear, and some I would use till the very end.

I purchased mine from LoveMy Makeup, you can also buy them from their sister brand "Makeup Clearance". I'm pretty sure this is the only place you can buy them "in store" in New Zealand at the moment. They retail for $9 ! which is so cheap and affordable.

Now that I've got all that info out of the way, lets see some swatches! Also if you continue to the very end, I've done a review on them as well.

*Please keep in mind, that sometimes colours do look different on different screens. However, I will have little descriptions for each colour to help you out x

Dreamy - Is a brown/pink nude. It doesn't look too brown on lighter complexions. Must have

Bazaar - Is a deep rose shade

Fleur -  Its a nude but with a slight terracotta undertone. On a deeper complexion I think this would turn into a peachy nude.

Fantasy - Is a soft "neon" pink, super pretty and girly

Obsess - Is a hot coral shade which reminds me of the Limecrime Velvetine "Suedeberry".

Instinct - Is what I would describe as a true orange shade. Similar to MAC Morange

Frisky - Is a beautiful pin up red. Similar to MAC Ruby woo

Secret - Is a deeper classic red. If MAC Russian Red had a darker sister, this would be her.

Timeless - This shade does not look like this when you swatch it. But trust me it changes once its fully dried and goes more of a deep fuschia shade x

Iconic - Is a super pastel baby pink. Almost like MAC Snob

Playful - Is a "bright" mid tone pink

Tulle - Is another bright neon pink. You would love this if you love MAC Candy yum yum. This would make your teeth look super white!

Rebel - was the first shade I tried and is now my favorite! A deep plum shade.

Backstage - Probably has the "less" amount of coverage. You need almost 3 layers to get a full opaque coverage. Its the most stunning deep cranberry shade though!

Stunner - Is MAC Heroine all over. A Vibrant Purple

Black Currant - I feel like a BOSS when I wear this colour Ha! A deep dark purple. Black Current is the perfect description.

Packaging: I'm loving the packaging, they don't look tacky at all. Just a nice simple black and white design.

Applicator: It has a doe foot applicator. Its so awkward, i'm not a fan at all. Its still manageable but I do wish it had a better applicator.

Pigmentation:  They are amazingly pigmented! they have such a strong colour pay off. Backstage is the only one I've worn that requires 3 or so layers to get that full opaque coverage. If you can't be bothered like me, colour your lips in first with a similar shade lip-liner.

Scent: They don't really have a scent. If they smelt like vanilla cupcakes, that would be so yummy!

Longevity: They are so long wearing, I'm talking 10/10. They do slightly wear away if I eat hot oily food, but not a lot. The staying power is crazy. I love it! but I don't look forward to taking them off Ha!

How to remove: I suggest rubbing your lips with coconut oil, or any sort of oil really. Wet a flannel with "hot" water. Oil and heat should break down the product and make it easier to remove.

Dry, Flaky or Sticky? I experienced none of these with the L.A Girl Matte Lipsticks. I know it sounds too good to be true but the formula is great!  Matte lipsticks always have that "matte dry" feeling obviously because it has no gloss/shine to them. However the L.A Girl Mattes don't feel like their sucking the moisture out of my lips. I didn't experience any flaking, and they didn't feel sticky after application.

If they do feel sticky? I have seen 1 or 2 reviews where people have experienced a slight sticky feeling. After applying the L.A Girl Matte Lipstick "don't" pucker your lips or moosh them together. Wait until the lipstick has fully dried then pucker your lips, if u have to. Another tip is to dust a little translucent powder over the top. I would recommend using the L.A Girl Pro setting powder. Its very finely milled and won't make the lips feel overly dry.

I would gladly choose these over my Limecrime Velvetines. They are half the price and just as amazing! I hope L.A Girl adds more shades to this collection.  I wish for a brown, please and thank-you ha! x
